Late 1800s all wood carousel horse from the G.A. Dentzel Steam and Horsepower Carousel Company in Germantown, PA. Typical of the early Dentzel figures this boldly striding outside row figure displays a muscular body and a cheerful head raised on a neck furnished with a layered mane and flipped forelock carved in high relief. A simple scroll back saddle is girthed over a fancifully shaped bordered blanket, the whole secured by breastband and breeching having a motif of carved triangles.
