Circa 1910 second row American Flag style carousel horse from a portable
or traveler machine manufactured by the Charles Walker Parker
factory in Abilene, Kansas. The horse is in the jumping position and features
an open mouthed head in an elevated and canted position and features a
deeply carved cascading mane, a pleasant expression, a wide peytral (breastband)
and is further embellished with a patriotic shield on the saddle cantle.
The figure has glass eyes, a natural horsehair tail and bears cast metal
shoes with the Parker factory identification. The figure presents in as
found solid unrestored condition with no missing parts and shows
layers of old paint in a polychrome color palette of a tan body with a
brown saddle and bridle enhanced with a silver boss, a red peytral, a
blue saddle blanket and a flag in red, white and blue, the trappings veined
in gold and silver. 51 long by 43 high, 34 chest to rump.
