862-2 - Muller $16,000
Circa 1905 Daniel Muller prancer. The fascination with cowboys and Indians
at the turn of the century is evident in this homage to the American West.
The rearing Appaloosa, equipped with a lariat and sporting colorful native
blanket motifs on its trappings, bears the carved head of an Indian brave
in feathered headdress on its flank. An older restoration with some seam
separation, this figure once earned its living on a carousel operated
by the Royal American Shows before finding a home at the John and Mable
Ringling Museum of Art. Deaccessioned by the museum in May of 1986.
54 long x 55 high x 40 chest to rump.
