| 798-2 - Dentzel - $29,500 Elegantly poised outside row giraffe formerly aboard the carousel at Freedomland Amusement Park in New York and later at The Great Escape Fun Park at Lake George, New York; parted out by Guernsey's Auction house December 16, 1989. This is Lot 147 and is NOT one of the "fiberglassed" figures. The carving features glass eyes in a gentle expressive face; foliate scrollwork encloses the "English"saddle and forms the girth, the whole supported by a softly folded saddle blanket. Older restoration by Charles Jakubowski. Minor seam lines appear on the neck and top of front leg. 52 long x 71 high. |
