| 780-8 - Armitage Herschell - Price
Reduced to $1200 The sweet simplicity of the early carousel figures, revealing their descent from the children's rocking horse, is exemplified in this circa 1898 jumper from the North Tonawanda carousel factory of Armitage Herschell. An upraised head with alert smiling face, simply carved floaty mane, and understated trappings including a checkered blanket, scalloped breastband and floating saddle characterize this era of manufacture. An older restoration - the horse white with grey mane harnessed with red, yellow and blue trappings - glass eyes and a natural horsehair tail. 47 long x 41 high, 36 chest to rump. |
