Circa 1917 outside row carving from the Charles W. Parker factory in Leavenworth,
Kansas. The tucked head jumper is adorned with an extravagant "flame
mane;" a foliate flap issues from beneath the jewel punctuated breastband;
a signature grape cluster with leaves hangs from the leaf bedecked cantle;
glass eyes, jeweled headstall and metal shoes complete the arrangement.
Rarely does a carousel animal present in such exceptional condition in the
natural wood, accenting its character and revealing the construction details
of the figure. 60 long x 36 high, 36 chest to rump. |
