| 1118-1 - Muller - $45,500 D.C. Muller & Bro. Tiger, circa 1907. Last rode on the carousel at Willow Grove in Mechanicsburg, PA. A rare, beautifully carved, and powerful figure with large tasseled flower at the cantle, and wonderful Egyptian-like side carvings. See Carrousel Art No. 27, Tiger issue, page 17 for photograph of this figure in park paint on the carousel. Restored to the original factory paint by well-known folk art paint restorer Peter Deen, with darker coat of brown varnish added. Restoration revealed a "#4" stamped on the belly and initials, reading "h.K. 07" (assume 1907). Could this be the signature of the original painter? 78 long x 48 high. |
