A very rare turn of the century giraffe from the E. Joy Morris Company in
Philadelphia, an early manufacturer whose stock was acquired by the
newly formed Philadelphia Toboggan Company. This proud ambassador from the
Dark Continent carries a saddle with a cantle consisting of an acanthus
leaf dividing deeply carved double scrolls. Further trappings include a
fancifully formed skirt carrying golden tassels, and a lappeted and fringed
breastband embracing the chest. The lofty fellow presents in very good condition,
professionally restored and towering 87 inches tall (7 feet, three inches).
