| 1022-6 - Looff - $5,400 Circa 1895. This jumper originated in the Charles Looff carousel works as a prancer but when implementation of the new overhead jumping mechanism offered a more exciting ride the figure's rear legs were replaced to renovate it to a jumper. Simple spoon saddle and restrained trappings offer an example of Looff's charming simplicity before the emergence of his flamboyant Coney Island style. Restored, glass eyes and natural horsehair tail. 39 inches chest to rump. |
